The People's Choice Award. Dream Room voting from the public.

The People’s Choice Award is part of the Dream Room competition where  online judging is open to the general public. Suzanne had the third highest online voting total for this Clearwater living room.

Location: Clearwater, FL

Designer Credits: Suzanne Christie

Project Overview:

This is a new build home with immensely high ceilings. Suzanne’s client wanted the space to feel warm and inviting and to allow guests an uninterrupted view from the living room. This room also had to accommodate the TV and a fireplace. She also wanted to display her original art by Peter Max.

Creating a home from a new build can be quite a challenge. A main focal point of this room is the gorgeous stone wall created with a cut-out opening that displays the 36-light mercury glass fixture hanging in the stairwell behind the wall.

A pair of ocean blue chenille tufted sofas flank the fireplace. Placed between the sofas is a brass and charcoal leather tufted ottoman. Pillows of lime green, black and teal adorn the sofas. Two dove grey leather motorized recliners were placed at the end of the sofas facing the focal wall. Round end tables in gold metal and glass were placed between the chairs and the sofas. Ebony dimpled glass lamps provided reading light, while the ceiling contains recessed lighting. A 96-inch ceiling fan was mounted to provide air movement.

An area rug in bright hues of blues, purple, black, yellow and greens was placed under the furniture grouping to anchor it and provide softness against all the hard surfaces. The pattern and colors of the rug give the appearance of looking through water at an ocean coral reef. A perfect fit for this coastal home. Original glass art pieces were placed in the white shelves on both sides of the stone wall to further highlight the color palette of the room.

Suzanne’s client loves to spend time here just relaxing and entertaining in her private coral reef.
