Guest Room Garden Retreat

The request for this tiny 11 x 12 foot guest room was for it to be feminine. It needed to have a queen bed, storage for guests, and the French doors which opened out to a balcony needed privacy.

Project Overview:

In keeping with the overall feel of this home, color and a bit of glam was definitely in order. Suzanne’s starting point was a shelter queen upholstered bed in an oatmeal fabric with sandy blonde wood trim. This provided sleeping comfort but to transform the guest room into something exciting and colorful, a whimsical wall mural was selected to give the room a feeling of a growing flower garden.

Two mirrored night stands were chosen to provide ample storage for guests with the mirror design allowing the space to feel more airy. Peony pink lamps added the right amount of color and light to accentuate the mural. To complete the “garden,” grass-green linen fabric was used to make a custom duvet and adorned with lace trim to add that frilly feel. The same combination is repeated on the euro shams to make the bed more simple against the mural. Pillows in carnation pink, crisp white, and fuchsia are added for the final touch. For warmth on the feet a neutral rug that repeats the pattern on the mural was selected and placed under the bed.

On the other side of the room a pink chair and small white chest were added for guests to use. Finally, white and taupe patterned embroidered sheers, lined for privacy, were installed over the French doors on satin gold poles with chrome rings to mimic the night stands. Finials chosen are glass balls to echo the peony pink lamps and night stand knobs.
