Nautical Guest Room

Our client’s request was for this guest room to have a nautical theme to reflect the waterside location of the house and her original Wyland Art she wanted to use in the room.

Location: Clearwater, FL

Designer Credits: Suzanne Christie

Project Overview:

A palette of navy, taupe and white was decided suitable to create our nautical theme. A queen shutter style bed in a coastal driftwood finish was selected and to bring in the nautical feel, whimsical chests were chosen in white and navy with fish drawer fronts to be used as night stands. Knotted rope lamps were placed on the chests to provide light for the room in the evenings and further the coastal feel.

In order for guests to be able to sit and enjoy the amazing view, a pair of rattan chairs finished in distressed white with cushions in a nautical maritime print, were placed in front of the large window. Between the chairs, a washed white anchor end table was placed with a navy blue ceramic fish lamp.

For the bed a nautical rope inspired textured fabric created an interesting duvet with wood buttons running horizontally across the middle of the bed. Two navy and white diamond patterned euro shams are coupled with multiple seafarer pillows in navy and rope. Placed under the bed for warmth was a simple striped area rug in multiple colors of blue and neutral. The large window was simply adorned with wavy diamond rope navy fabric panels hung by compass star holdbacks and a motorized blackout shade handles the privacy and light control needed for the room.
